Are Internet Marketing conferences worth the money?
It doesn’t seem like a year ago that I went to Carl Galleti’s Internet Marketing Superconference, I met some interesting people and learnt a lot.
What did I learn..
Ed Dale is a funny speaker, Len Thurmond needs to add some emotion into his voice and you shouldn’t believe everything that you hear in the hallways..lol
This years conference is at the end of June in Las Vegas and I am sorry to say that I don’t think I will be going, nothing to do with the conference it is more to do with our house hunting and holidays.
I have noticed there are more and more Internet Marketing conferences appearing all over the country (and indeed all over the world) the one question that everyone asks is..
Are Internet Marketing Conferences worth the money?
Well for one thing it depends how much you pay – they vary from $197 for Ross Goldbergs Midwest conference up to $10,000 for some that you don’t see advertised very often but they sure do fill up.
Value can’t be based on price alone, you could pay $197 and meet someone who will become a lifelong friend and business partner that relationship could make you 10’s of thousands of dollars.
You pay $10k for a weekend conference and do nothing with the stuff they show you and talk to no one, well that is clearly not going to appear to be good value.
Are Internet Marketing conferences worth the money, it really depends on whether you are going to act on what you learn and also whether you truly want to achieve the things that are possible..
My top tips for conferences (and feel free to add your own)
- Come prepared- plenty of sleep, get there early, bring some cards with your info on (even if it is just home made cards).
- Don’t run away – when the sessions are over hang around, chat to people, if everyone is moving towards the bar go with them even if you are only going to have a coke.
- Use what God gave you (as my gran used to say) – 2 ears and 1 mouth , listen and take in what people are saying (I don’t just mean on the podium either)
- Don’t believe all you hear – People are there to sell you something (usually) so listen and evaluate before you whip out that credit card.
- People are People – The guy or girl sitting next to you may well be just as new and overwhelmed as you are and there is a good chance you will be sitting next to them for at least a good part of the time so say hello.
- Enjoy – Whats the point in it all if you can’t have fun!
Will I be going to another conference.. yes just not yet..
