Anyone going to be in Las Vegas this weekend?

Hi

This weekend there is a Internet Marketing Conference going on in Las Vegas at the Tuscany Hotel.

I am not going to the whole conference, to be honest the line up just didn’t float my boat, but I am meeting up for lunch with a friend of mine who is going to be there.

So if you live in Las Vegas or maybe you are attending the Internet Marketing Super Conference this weekend and fancy joining us for a bite and maybe a beer then please feel free to contact me. You can leave a comment here with your info (I won’t publish them, don’t worry) or contact me on Skype – my username is forceyp.

I would love to meet anyone who reads my blog (I am maybe fooling myself that any of you live near Vegas or would like to meet me..lol) and we can have a nice easy going lunch with some laughs and hopefully better service than we had last year at the Atrium hotel.. that is a whole other story..

Anyway hit me up if you fancy joining us..

Are Internet Marketing conferences worth the money?

It doesn’t seem like a year ago that I went to Carl Galleti’s Internet Marketing Superconference, I met some interesting people and learnt a lot.

What did I learn..

Ed Dale is a funny speaker, Len Thurmond needs to add some emotion into his voice and you shouldn’t believe everything that you hear in the hallways..lol

This years conference is at the end of June in Las Vegas and I am sorry to say that I don’t think I will be going, nothing to do with the conference it is more to do with our house hunting and holidays.

I have noticed there are more and more Internet Marketing conferences appearing all over the country (and indeed all over the world) the one question that everyone asks is..

Are Internet Marketing Conferences worth the money?

Well for one thing it depends how much you pay – they vary from $197 for Ross Goldbergs Midwest conference up to $10,000 for some that you don’t see advertised very often but they sure do fill up.

Value can’t be based on price alone, you could pay $197 and meet someone who will become a lifelong friend and business partner that relationship could make you 10′s of thousands of dollars.

You pay $10k for a weekend conference and do nothing with the stuff they show you and talk to no one, well that is clearly not going to appear to be good value.

Are Internet Marketing conferences worth the money, it really depends on whether you are going to act on what you learn and also whether you truly want to achieve the things that are possible..

My top tips for conferences (and feel free to add your own)

  1. Come prepared- plenty of sleep, get there early, bring some cards with your info on (even if it is just home made cards).
  2. Don’t run away – when the sessions are over hang around, chat to people, if everyone is moving towards the bar go with them even if you are only going to have a coke.
  3. Use what God gave you (as my gran used to say) – 2 ears and 1 mouth , listen and take in what people are saying (I don’t just mean on the podium either)
  4. Don’t believe all you hear – People are there to sell you something (usually) so listen and evaluate before you whip out that credit card.
  5. People are People – The guy or girl sitting next to you may well be just as new and overwhelmed as you are and there is a good chance you will be sitting next to them for at least a good part of the time so say hello.
  6. Enjoy – Whats the point in it all if you can’t have fun!

Will I be going to another conference.. yes just not yet..

January already..

I had a skype call from my friend Brian on Friday, I met him at the Internet Marketing Superconference in Vegas in June last year.

We were chatting about when the 2007 Internet marketing superconference was going to be and although neither of us had any idea when it is we agreed there was a good chance we would meet up there.

I found it interesting that we were both willing to pay $100′s of dollars to go to a conference where we had no idea who the speakers would be yet.

Although we work online we are both looking for a reason to meet up in person, and the benefits from meeting in person are huge.

Even with the ease of making a call using skype and video calls we still see the benefit of meeting up face to face.

The best thing about any sort of conference is the people you meet, the contacts I made at the conference in June were invaluable and they are still making me income every day..

If you can go to a conference do so, even if you aren’t sure about the speakers, you will make such good contacts that it will pay for itself quickly..

Internet marketing conferences are definitely something I hope to get more involved with in 2007..

Rich Schefren at the Internet Marketing Superconference

I got the DVD’s from Carl Galleti’s Internet Marketing Superconference on saturday but I have been so busy working on reorganizing (or should that be organizing) my office and yard work and spending some time doing nothing that I have only just got round to watching them.

I started out with Rich Schefrens talk, He was the man who hit me hardest at the conference and boy he is hitting me hard again this morning.

The beauty of these DVD’s is that I can pause them and write stuff down or go to amazon and do some research for a book..

I am also rewinding and rewatching bits again.. and again..

The DVD’s aren’t cheap but if you want a business rather than just making some money then you need to invest..

Rich Schefren is talking about systems right now.. rather than just outsorce and hope it goes ok..put sytems in place and make sure it goes ok..

Project management- we manage projects.. from building sites to releasing products .. but how many project management courses have we been on.. how many project management books have you read?

amazon

eBay

Ok Enough for now..

I am off to start looking for some project management books and start ordering stuff..

Good job we are busy organizing my office so I may even have some room to put the new books..
