What I learnt at the Internet marketing Superconference – part 1

I have had a couple of emails and seen some forum posts asking for my over all thoughts..

Typing all this up is time consuming, but If I get it all down here then hopefully that will clear some space in my brain for the next thing..

I am hoping to get some sort of MP3 player/recorder tonight so I can brain dump to MP3, I cant record onto my pc as I have the washing machine and dryer going (see what a rock n roll lifestyle i have)..

Ok so question and answer time.. I do realise that this section may make me look like a lunatic who talks to himself.. buy hey those of you who know me are used to me by now..
Overall was it good value?

Well It only cost me $29 , I actually won a competition run by Dirk Wagner , I am on his list and he really does give great deals, I bought one of his products (which i wanted anyway) and entered a raffle and I won.

Dirk runs the most amazing deals at his Crazy Weekend Deal site and I would definitely say that this man is probably going to have changed my life.

I met people there who had paid $700+ and they were over the moon with what good value they had received..

I do think a lot of “value” is perceived, if someone decides they are going to soak up all they can and take value from everyone then they will have got a bargain at even $1400..

No 1 Thing you learned at the Internet Marketing Superconference?

I thought going in that I would learn about adsense and products and copywriting…

While I did learn about them, I even bought Joe Sugarmans offer (he needs the money to keep his young wife in jeans, and boy what a pair of jeans they were..) now I just have to work out where I have a tape player to listen to the tapes..lol

The most important lessons for me were..

Vision of a Goal

Not just “i want to be successfull” or “I want money” but a real vision..

Tom bell said that it is no good setting you goal at “I want a big house”. You need to make the dream real, take a photo of the house you want, write down a description of it.

I think it was Richard Schefren (a genius who sent my brain into tailspins) who said that once you have that goal, work out which baby steps you are going to take to get there..

The analogy I used to my wife is that if we were driving from St George, Utah to Chicago we wouldn’t just go.. We would plan a route and take breaks and stops.

If you earn $20K this year online and want to earn $100K next year, then it is going to be hard to do it.

If you earn $20k and aim at $30K as the first stop on the journey to the goal of $100k then it appears more possible.

Once you have taken a break at the $30K pit stop , then you can aim yourself at the $40k one.

Keep on aiming at a target a little bit ahead and eventually you will be at $100k

So Paul what are you picking as your goal?

I don’t know yet..

Mike Stewart at the Internet Marketing Superconference

Mike Stweart was entertaining, funny and for me thought provoking at the Internet marketing superconference.

He sparked a idea in my brain which I will be doing some more work on this week..

I was all ready to buy whatever he had to sell us.. Until he threw it out there.. $997 and he had already described part of the offer as “a cheap bit of software”

That $997 didnt include a camera and to be honest I wasnt sure exactly what it did include.

Mike was a fun and entertaining talk , but if he was there with the aim of selling big numbers then I think he needed to be more dynamic in pushing the product.

On the other hand maybe he doesnt need the money?

Fun talk – Yes

Thought provoking – Yes

Did I buy anything – No

Tom Bell at the Internet Marketing Conference

Tom Bell does ebooks..

There you go thats his secret..

He does lots and lots of them and he sells lots and lots of them (i am talking millions) and he makes money.. lots and lots of money..

He doesnt look like a millionaire, he doesnt act like one but he is one (i havent seen his account so I am guessing a bit).

So what did I learn from Tom bell..

Find a market

Get a ebook written

Get the sales letter

Drive traffic

If you spend $100 getting traffic and make $120, then do it again..

if for every $100 you spend you make $20 profit..

then spend $1000 and you will make $200

Spend $10,000 and you will make $2k

Now do this with 20 different ebooks….

Yes i am simplyfing it, and yes I am leaving some stuff out, But thats only fair as people have paid a lot of money to learn this stuff..

I would say that when the DVD package comes out that it will be a no brainer to buy it..

If you are considering going to a conference.. then do it.. I wish I had gone to one a year ago..

Brad Fallon at the Internet marketing Superconference

Brad fallon came across as being nice and honest and full fo energy.

He was interesting and one thing came across he isnt really a geek..

I dont know why I thought he would be a geek, he is a business man and once again I was reminded that working on the Internet is a business.

He mentioned lots of books to read, not one of them was about the internet, they were all business books..

He did show us some very interesting slides all about split testing pages..

Why split test..

Well if one page can convert at 2% while the other does 1% that is 100% extra revenue..

I have to say that by this stage on the conference I was so brain fried that I didnt take many notes, but i did pay for a DVD set of the conference and will sit down and watch these when they arrive..

I will probably update all this when they arrive.. there is so much to learn from all these guys and often it is the throw away remarks that are the money makers.
