And I haven’t got half the stuff done I wanted to get done this year. One thing about working at home is that life often gets in the way of work. Between a sick mother and a 2 year old who wants her dads attention it is hard to work sometimes.
It is still a heck of a lot better than going into work at some crazy early time to a job I dislike a lot, for a boss I like even less though so I am not moaning.
If any of you have known me for a while you may remember a call I did 2 years ago with a mate of mine Mark Thompson, we didn’t do one last year as I was so busy with Elizabeth but things have settled down a lot so we had a call which covered…
Well we covered everything from being organized to my mum coming round and smacking you if you don’t do the work that is needed. We also answered some questions that people had asked us to cover.
It ended up being 2 hours of fun and some very good info was shared. To make it even better it wasn’t just the 2 of us this time, Peter Coghlin who makes the best adsense themes I have ever used joined us.
If you would like to listen to the call you can do so
2009 has been a good year on the whole I have released some
Wordpress Plugins
I also did some great videos on everything from 404 pages and redirects through to checking if your articles are indexed and what to do about it if they aren’t.
I have been spending far to much time on the WP Goldmine forum and I also spent a fair bit of time working outside on our veggie garden. We are just finishing off our 2nd raised planter bed and a large compost heap. One of the good things about this house is that we have land. The bad thing is that means more work for me!
Plans for 2010
Software
I am working on some software with a friend of mine who some of you may now Andrew Peacock, the software is ready and I am using it but I need to do videos and a manual for it.
I meant to release it a week or two ago but life always seems to throw up roadblocks for some reason I seem to be taking twice as long as I want to when I am doing anything, can’t decide if I am most easily distracted by forums or the cakes that my wife keeps making.
I am also looking at some more Wordpress plugins, so keep an eye out for all these and more.
Selling sites
I have sold a few sites privately over the last month or so and am going to be looking at doing more in 2010. I have also been reading a lot of hogwash about how much a site is worth.
Just because the top adsense click costs are shown as $20 and the Google traffic estimator shows 1k people look for the word every month it doesn’t mean your site is worth $20K!
Expect to see more info on selling sites in 2010, I think it is a viable income stream which can add some extra bunce to your bank accounts when needed.
Adsense
I remember the good old days of building 100’s of sites for adsense, while I dont think we are going back to those days I am intending to ramp up my adsense sites.
Ok we are officially getting into being the longest post ever so I will end it for now. I hope everyone has a good Christmas, Spend some time with your family and recharge those batteries.
