I have heard today about a friend of mine who makes his living online and is breaking up with his wife, I know divorces happen all the time but this is the 2nd one in two weeks.
The common denominator is that both these guys make their money working online..
I know that before I came to America and got married my mum told me that I would have to make sure I didn’t spend all my time online and neglect Kathy. There have been times when I have spent way to much time on the PC, usually around product launch time, and Kathy has been very understanding.
I now pretty much take weekends of, I do check my emails 3 times a day but I try not to actually go and do any work especially on Sundays.
So what are my thoughts on whether or not Internet Marketing is bad for your marriage?
I think that obsession is bad for relationships and Internet Marketers tend to get obsessed, especially when we are chasing income or working on the next product release.
I am not suggesting that you shouldn’t work hard online, but you should also work hard on your relationships, there is no joy in sitting counting all your cash alone.
So when your wife/husband/partner comes home tonight talk to them discuss why you are working so hard and maybe agree that you will take Saturday/Sunday off and go do something they enjoy and do it together.
Internet Marketing can give you a great lifestyle, just be careful that while running towards the freedom that working online can give your marriage/relationship doesn’t get left behind.
