Should you trust testimonials?

You know the “this is the greatest tool ever” ones?

I remember Mark Thompson saying once that when he sees what he calls “the usual suspects” giving testimonials then he instantly distrusts the product. By the usual suspects I think he means various Gurus and trainee Gurus, you do tend to see the same people giving testimonials and I do wonder how they find the time to use all these tools and read all these ebooks.

I only use real testimonials and that in itself can cause problems, most people will email you saying thanks and what they like about your stuff but most people are not copywriters so they don’t make it sound that interesting.. I would rather take the honesty than start going down the path of making stuff up.

I am currently writing a testimonial for a product that is hopefully coming out this week, I have been nagging my friend to make this product and release it for months. This is one of those situations where when he first suggested this idea to me I laughed at him, but as he is a friend I gave in and did what he asked..

When I could directly attribute $2k+ in sales in 2 or 3 days to this one thing then I was more than willing to admit he isn’t quite so nuts..lol

I can say quite honestly say that this idea and his implementation methods have helped make me at least $20K over the last 7 or so months.. not bad for something I laughed at..

I am hoping he will do some sort of deal for me when it is ready so keep a eye out
