Any of you that have kids, or nephews will have heard the song, you know the one about the wheels on the bus going round and round.
Well it came to mind last night when I was on a one to one call with a customer.
He has been online for a while and makes some money, the first problem is he spends as much as he makes. He belongs to half a dozen forums which he pays for some of them, 3 (or maybe it was 4) plr sites, has an aweber account and 3 hosting accounts.
The second problem is he doesn’t like a lot of what he does, he has mailing lists but hates writing emails, doesn’t like selling. Of course the people pushing the PLR at him are telling him thats what he has to do so he does it.
Everyone talks about building sites, no one ever seems to discuss that there is a time to cut your losses and move on.
I think if this was my first call where I had sensed real frustration, and one guy sounded like he was near to tears, it wouldn’t be so bad but there definitely seems to be a pattern of people spending to much money and when they dont quite make it they go and join somewhere else and when that doesn’t work out they join the next one.
Hands up anyone who is humming the wheels on the bus as they join program after program?
I will share more soon, we are still working on getting this new blog set up the way I want it.
In the mean time if you feel that you would benefit from an hour talking to me about your business, where it is, where you want it to be and what is driving you nuts then pop along to my one on one page.
As you may well know I am running a Thanksgiving Sale this weekend and this morning I had a conversation with someone where I was basically told that they wouldn’t promote my sale because I didn’t promote their product.
Which product, well any of them..
Apparently the way that it works is that I promote their stuff then they promote mine, it doesn’t seem to matter what their product is, how much it is or anything else. If I want them to promote mine then I have to be willing to just promote anything no matter what they throw at me.
“Everyone does it” isn’t a good enough reason for me to just send out the same email that everyone else is sending out or take the time to write a email about a product I haven’t seen and quite often isn’t even finished at the time I hear about it.
I was told that the result of this strange attitude of mine is that I will stay poor (my wife and the sales see to that, I don’t need any help from anyone else) and won’t be able to join the IM “in crowd”..
Well know what.. I will live with that..
What cheeses me off even more is that in the last week I have been given a copy of a soon to be released product and I love it, It is simple to use and fits in perfectly with what I already sell. So I will be letting people know about it because I genuinely like the product and use it. I am sure some people will think I am just jumping on the bandwagon..
If you do see my name on a email you can be pretty darned sure that I am not promoting something because I need to get into the right parties.
Ok that is off my chest now time to move on back to working on the thanksgiving sale
Ok before we start, this is not some post which pretends to be one thing and then throws in an affiliate link for the product at the end of it all, although by this late stage I doubt if there are any copys left anyway so I will just type away merrily to myself..
I imagine Product Launch Formula 2.5 (plf2.5) is a great product, the dude really seems to know his stuff and he has some dammed impressive videos that he uses to promote it and he has some great back up. My question isn’t about jeff or the product.
My question is how many people will buy it and do nothing with it?
I mean if you don’t already release products or you don’t have one ready to go then the chances are that you will have to learn how to put a product together first. Then put the product together, set up at least some of the selling process (like a paypal account or a clickbank account) before you start looking at PLF2.5.
When I see big ticket items being sold I wonder how many people are going to buy it and never quite get round to using it. I know this happens with every product but spending $27 and not using the item is one thing but if you spend a few hundred just seems worse.
I wonder how many copies of the product (I am pretty sure it is a physical product) will end up under someones sofa..
The thing is it seems such a shame to just buy and then ignore something that has the potential to be so powerful but I know people do it all the time.
At lunch today my wife scared the living daylights out of me..
“What are we taking to my mums for Thanksgiving?”
“That’s ages away, why are we thinking about it now?” – says me..
I then got that look that every husband or boyfriend has received at some point, you know the one that says you are an idiot…
“It is only 5 weeks away”
Now I won’t bore you with my thoughts on spending Thanksgiving with my in laws, they are different from my family and thats all there is to it.
More importantly for anyone who works online is that following Thanksgiving is the Day After Thanksgiving Sale The biggest day of the year for sales and the way the economy is at the moment I think many shops will be offering some crazy deals so that they can squeeze as much cash out of all of us as possible.
My wife is talking about having all her Christmas shopping done by the Saturday after Thanksgiving and I am sure she isn’t the only one, so if you have any sites that sell physical products you should start ramping the promotion on them up now.
If you sell on eBay get your plan in place for the weekend of crazyness, you dont want to lose sales just because you didnt bother buying any stock.
What am I doing to prepare for Thanksgiving?
Well I am contacting other Marketers and seeing if I can get them to offer some great discounts on my Black Friday Sale site , if you are not already on that list I advise you to get on there now as the offers that I get will only be up for one day!
